Boysen Park

Looking for the perfect outdoor space to celebrate Labor Day weekend and the end of summer? Nearby Boysen Park, slightly northeast of downtown Anaheim, features nearly 25 acres in honor of the former parks superintendent Rudy Boysen. The founder of Boysenberry is famous in Orange County, and his namesake park is the ideal place for an outdoor barbeque as there is a maintained children’s play area near the grills.

Also known as “Airplane Park,” Boysen Park’s landmark feature is a massive U.S. Navy Cougar jet plane retired from the Korean War. It’s been a favorite fixture on the playground since 1959. There’s also a well-lit baseball and softball field that allows friends and family to enjoy a post-barbeque game. Alternatively, there are lit tennis and pickleball courts at the ready.

Fun and Games

With a big open play area and plenty of managed restrooms, Boysen Park is unique and easily accessible from Anaheim hotels. There’s also a volleyball court and an un-lit softball field for day games. Pack a picnic from a local restaurant or food truck (perhaps from the Anaheim Packing District) and say farewell to summer in style.

Anaheim is rich with beautifully landscaped parks and trails. Escape the bustle of the adventure parks and carve out a little time to enjoy the natural wonder of Anaheim. The weather is getting cooler and it’s prime for BBQing. Which park will be your first stop?
